Job Summary:
The Audit and Tax Manager will work with limited supervision primarily as leader of a team (normally 1 - 2 staff) responsible for accomplishing all aspects of assignments. Team leader responsibilities include engagement management, allocation of resources, on-going guidance and mentoring, and preparation of performance reviews. Documenting and reporting the team’s findings, recommendations and agreed-upon corrective actions. This positions will also assist with individual and corporate tax return preparation. Job Description:
The Audit and Tax Manager oversees audit staff and performs higher level field work during audit engagements that evaluate financial reporting results of not for profit and private companies.
- Provide outstanding client service and communication.
- Oversees audit planning, field work, and financial reporting.
- Responsible for the daily supervision of audit staff and responsible for the development of audit staff and the completion of performance evaluations.
- Review audit work papers prepared by the audit staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, sound audit theory and compliance with the department's methodology.
- Prepare financial statements for suitability of presentation and adequacy of disclosures.
- Prepares reports and communicate findings and recommendations to client and firm management.
- Prepare Business tax return as part of audit engagements.
- Ensures that tax, audit, compilation and review engagements are completed timely and on budget.
Requirements:
- Audit experience in public accounting.
- Tax preparation for corporate and personal returns.
- Professional certification required (CPA).
- Two (2) to Three (3) plus years of audit experience in public accounting firm (required).
- BS Degree in Accounting (required).
- Knowledge of Ultratax software, QuickBooks and PPC publications desired.
- Must be able to travel to client locations within the Frederick MD and Washington DC Metro area.
- Demonstrated technical abilities in select areas (audit, accounting, regulatory, compliance, etc.).
- Good analytical, interpersonal, time management, research, and communications skills.
- Demonstrate ability to methodically evaluate bookkeeping errors contained in clients books.
- Must be able to effectively work with new and changing situations including new industry regulations; where there may not always be a readily apparent solution.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and audit practices.
- Must be capable of presenting results to senior management.
